Shabaash Mumbai I
The terrorist attack on Mumbai’s WR railway commuters during the evening peak hours on 7/11 was meant to shake up the country by those who harbour resentment with the working of the government. Till date no organization has claimed responsibility of this gruesome act, nor have they given reasons for their cowardice behaviour. Probably they are waiting for a disruptive and panic reaction from the people before claiming responsibility.
Shabaash Mumbai ! You have thwarted the intentions of these subversive organization by bouncing back to normalcy the very next day; 16 hours to be exact ! Even the highly sensitive and sentimental BSE sensex gained more than 300 points! Call it ‘the spirit of Mumbai’, its resilience or ‘chronic disaster syndrome’, Mumbai has displayed once again to the rest of the country and the world that going about doing ones job sincerely is the best way to avert disruption. When I say ‘going about doing ones job sincerely’ it is meant for everybody; the common citizen, the police, the anti - terrorist squad, the government machinery and the bureaucrats, the political parties and the civic activists, so that such types of heinous & murderous attacks on innocent people becomes meaningless and are not repeated. For those who lost their near and dear ones in this carnage the grief is inconsolable.

From the President’s Pen
Dear Friends,
I feel honoured to hold the post of President of our esteemed association - MDMPA. I extend my sincere thanks to all the members and the committee members for the trust shown upon me. As per the unwritten motto of MDMPA - “Exceed Expectations Every Time”, our committee will take care of it & will maintain the spirit in the same manner.
I have seven past Presidents & an immediate past President to guide and help me and my colleagues. All the committee members are competent, trustworthy & sincere in their respective portfolios.
The solid pillar of MDMPA-Dr. Anil Pachnekar extends his persistent support & encouragement to me & my team. The constant valuable support we get from ever enthusiastic past Presidents Dr. H.S. Shingan, Dr. S.S. Utture & Dr. R.P. Joshi is overwhelming. Dr. Satish Palshikar has accepted the challenging job of Hon. Secretary. Dr. Pravin Gujarathi has willingly accepted the post of Hon.Treasurer. Dr. Ajoy Saha has given consent to work as Editor of MDMPA Bulletin.
All these years I was updating the mailing list of our members. Past President Dr. Sudhir Patil came forward to carry on the same work this year. If anyone of your friends (who has enrolled as member of MDMPA) are not receiving our regular mailings, please do contact Dr. Sudhir Patil.
Along with our regular annual programmes, this year we are arranging an unique ‘Monsoon Trekking’ (Details inside). Through out the year we will have CM Es, Sports, School Check up, Camps & Social activities.
To conclude MDMPA is in the hands of dedicated & enthusiastic committee members. This team requires active helping hand from all the members of MDMPA.

TREK TO MATHERAN
After the torrential rains that kept Mumbai in deep waters, its time my fellow MDMPA doctors to let your hair down and relax in the mystical mist of Matheran on Sunday, 13th August, 2006.
Re fresh your minds, soak your bodies and recharge your batteries in our historic first trek to the hilly resort of Matheran. For the faint hearted it would be heartening to know that the walk is an exercise if accompanied by ‘good talk’ in the company of eminent practitioners of MDMPA.
So those of you who do come, you are in for a visual as well as auditory treat followed by a treat for your gastric juices !
